About Us
KARWAR MARATHI UTKARSH MANDAL, MUMBAI (abbreviated as KMUM), is a non- profit making, voluntary organization was founded by a few visionaries from Karwar District, Uttara Kanara (North Karnataka) who had settled in Mumbai in order to render community services as they valued and believed in serving and working towards the welfare of society and betterment of underprivileged section of community
It all began with our visionaries from our Karwar, North Karnataka who had migrated to Mumbai for better employment prospects & placement to earn livelihood for themselves and provide their families.
They had envisioned that in a huge cosmopolitan cultured city, every other community had Trusts, Clubs and other equivalents as a platform to bring together and connect with their respective communities which were represented by them, by then, the migration process became a regular option for further education and livelihood.
As the cost of living had been scaling higher, only those who could afford or desperate to meet ends meet began to travel to Mumbai as the city had made rapid strides in terms of infrastructure, real estate, transportation and tourism and becoming a mega metro city.
While settling in Mumbai, our community members always felt need to have our own identity and somebody who could represent them, which saw the birth of Karwar Marathi Utkarsh Mandal, Mumbai, which was formally established on 31st August, 1975 and has been registered with the Commissioner of Charitable trust, bearing the Registration No. F-4334 (Mumbai).
To help build a bridge between urban and rural, there were many generous members who contributed for betterment of needy, poor and underprivileged community and started to doing various activities for encouraging education by collecting funds for student scholarships in terms of providing fees from the interests accrued to support the education, as they always believed in values of education, importance of society and community.
In the recent times, the needs and requirements of our community has gone under paradigm shift, hence in tune with time, besides holding events for Education Scholarship Distribution, the recent Managing Committee had been actively creating innovative initiatives beyond education and under the ambit of prevalent guidelines of Charity Commissioner’s Office.
KMUM in it’s 48th year of successful functioning, is now 80 G compliant, with registration No. AAATK7983L22MBMBO1 under Section 80G (5) (iii) of the Income Tax
